Fitzgerald Marine Reserve Walk
September 15 @ 11:00 am
Sunday, September 15, 2024, 11 AM start
Location: Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, 801 N. Lake St. near Nevada Ave., Moss Beach, CA
Meet at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve parking lot/visitor center: The parking lot is fairly large, and street parking on California Ave. is an option when the lot is full.
Toilet facilities and picnic tables at parking area.
RSVP recommended but not required: e-mail Lisa (of hikingautism.com) at [email protected] with name and number of hikers.
Description: Free. Join Lisa and family for an autism families favorite at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. The bridge to the main trails was out for quite a while, but it’s open again! The renowned tide pool area is a stone’s throw from the parking lot.
We will take a walk (shortest main loop is about 1 mile) from the tide pool area over a small footbridge to a trail through a pretty forest area and past ocean views. Those opting to take stairs down to beach will have a longer walk. Harbor seals are almost always visible at the bottom of the cliff from one viewpoint. Bring binoculars or a camera.
Most of this walk is dog-free, but there is a short stretch where dogs are allowed on leash, for those of us with dog-sensitive family members.
