The Master Plan Committee seeks to create and strengthen bridges that connect the developmental services (DDS/RC system) to other critical systems e.g .Dept of Social Services, Dept of Rehab, Behavioral Health, with the goal of improving housing, employment, safety, transportation, health and other essential services for the ID/DD/Autism community
Come, learn and share with the Project Director of the Master Plan, Victor Duron, Chief Deputy Director of the Dept of Rehabilitation
- Share what services are working or/and are lacking or needing reform for those with autism and their families; What specific issues have you had in getting needed services related to autism e.g. lack of providers, skilled therapists, appropriate day programs, housing, etc
- How can other departments within the Health and Human Services Division e.g. Dept of Social Services, Behavioral Health or Dept of Rehab better meet the needs of all people with autism from neurodiverse individuals to those with high support needs
- Your ideas about how to make things better for the ASD community Sample ideas: what housing works for those with high support needs; what vocational programs are needed to increase employment;, what data should be collected to describe needs. should there be a specialty autism service coordinator unit at each RC,etc
