WEBINAR: Disaster Preparedness for Parents with Disabilities

July 21 @ 12:00 pm

About this webinar

People with disabilities are often excluded from conversations about emergency preparedness. This includes parents with disabilities who need to keep themselves and their children safe during a disaster. Join us as we learn from Shari Myers and Melissa Marshall from the Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies. They will discuss emergency preparedness best practices for disabled parents and their families. Shari and Melissa will talk about building a realistic emergency kit, sheltering in place while disabled, and knowing your rights as a disabled person during a disaster. We also will hear from two National Research Center for Parents with Disabilities’ Advisory Board members, Judy Brown and Morénike Giwa-Onaiwu, about their personal experiences with emergency preparedness and disaster response.

Accessibility

We will provide ASL interpretation and Zoom automated captions. For any other accommodations, please contact us at Lurie@Brandeis.edu as soon as possible.

The presentation will be recorded and available for later viewing.
